I really want to go to the tea salon.
Two weeks ago on Thursday I posted about having had an awesome evening which included Zen Cha Tea Salon in the Short North neighborhood, right next to the consignment store where I took some clothes. It looked like this.

This tea. I cannot describe how delicious this tea was. It was a German tea called Orange Grove. They don't do bags of tea there, they're custom blends done in a press, as you can see, and this one had herbs and rinds and flowers in it. It was lightly sweet and tart (I like tea to be tart) and I drank it with great relish.
I'd love to go there tonight. But I must stay here as long as physically possible to make up for the sick day I took yesterday so I don't have to put in a full day on the weekend or something. I've got two hours done already because I worked ten on Monday.
So I'm not going. Also I look like something the cat dragged in. I just got up and threw on jeans and a sweater. My beauty ritual this morning consisted of brushing my teeth and putting on deodorant. Yay.

Does anyone on my journal wear a size womens US 10 shoe?
I havethree one pairs of shoes that I ordered 10W, but they definitely weren't wide! I was lazy and never got around to sending them back.
I have:
Propet slip on walker in wine suede. It's a sock like shoe with elastic lace up. Think fancy sneakers.
Easy Spirit slip on walker in olive(ish). It's a sock like shoe with elastic lace up. More casual.
Foot Smart mules in eggplant (deep purple) suede. I *love* these, but unfortunately my foot is too thick to fit in them right :( These are excellent casual to wear with jeans.
I have weird feet :(
These shoes are all brand new, never worn and still in the boxes.
Anyone interested? I'll send them to you for the cost of the flat rate USPS shipping.

Well, my post-Christmas life continues to kinda suck.
Monday, I picked up the Car of Hate (my new name for my vehicle. What do you think? I'm open to alternatives, please to suggest), which seems to be running fine. Definitely starts up easier with new battery. Grumbled through paying for THAT little adventure. Then I went back to work because there was stuff to be done.
Tuesday I woke up with a terrible sore throat and headache. Greaaaaat. Stayed home and drank egg drop soup.
Oh, and I finally watched "Half Blood Prince." I really liked it. I actually didn't notice that much stuff different/left out of the film except they added the Burrow burning and took out the funeral, both of which I already knew about and neither of which seemed that earth-shattering. And I could have SWORN that I saw advance images of Harry and Ginny kissing after the Quidditch win which is their first kiss in the book, not in the Room of Requirement as in the film. Did I imagine that post-Quidditch kiss thing?
I'll say this, the teen-angst romance stuff played a LOT better onscreen than it did on the page. We didn't have to hear Jo's awkward rambling about Harry's chest monster or endure endless Hermione bitchiness, it was just played out, and the actors did it well. And you know, I never bought Ginny as a real character or romantic interest in the book but the way Bonnie plays her I buy it a lot more. That's either a credit to the screenplay that gave her more of a presence or to Bonnie for making her seem smart and capable. Probably both. For us sad old H/H shippers it was pretty sweet, too...that bit where he's comforting Hermione crying over Ron was lovely. Jim Broadbent couldn't have been more perfect as Slughorn, and Harry on the Felix Felicitis (or whatever) potion was HI-larious, especially the bit about the pincers. I was glad they fit Lupin and Tonks in there. And I was disappointed that the two best lines in the book got left out, namely Harry's "You don't have to call me Sir" and Dumbledore's "I am not afraid, I am with you, Harry." Woe. But on the whole I thought it looked amazing, much more stylistically what Potter should always have been, and was well adapted from the book, by far the hardest book to adapt.
I did venture out once to Target for a couple of things. Wiper blades and Kleenex and Ricola and one very important item...SoBe Lifewater. Now, since surgery I have sampled pretty much every zero-calorie no-sugar water-like non-soda beverage that exists. Powerade Zero? Passable but fake-tasting. Gatorade G2? Tasty but too overpowering and not actually zero calorie. Vitamin Water 10? Eccchhh.
SoBe zero-calorie LifeWater is SO DAMN GOOD. It's delicious. It's light but tasty and it doesn't taste like artificial sweetener. It's completely, totally and in all other ways awesome. I was hoping to get a better price at Target (it was $1.59 a bottle at Kroger) and they had it 10 for $10. I bought 10. I would have bought more but they were almost out. I also needed wiper blades, so there I stood in the Automotive section, realizing that I'd forgotten what size I needed.
The Droid to the rescue! Googled "2002 Taurus wiper blade size" and problem solved. Except I forgot to buy the passenger-side blade two inches shorter so it's a tad long, but no big deal. When I was outside putting them on this woman stopped and said to me "You know, if you buy those at AutoZone they'll put them on for free." Yeah, lady, I know. I'm not AT AutoZone, am I? I'm perfectly capable of changing wiper blades. It's not like it's hard. But this woman looked like the sort who would call a mechanic to refill her wiper fluid reservoir, you know?
Did I tell you guys that the Droid won a challenge over Christmas? The family all wanted to see it and were suitably impressed, but my father kept asking me if the Droid could really do everything, if it was really all that. I said it was. So he posed me a challenge. My grandfather was snowblowing and he came across a random car part in the neighbor's driveway. It had clearly broken off of something, it was black and plastic. My dad handed it to me and said "Okay, can the Droid tell us what this is?"
Your challenge, sir. I accept it.
The part had a number on it. I started Googling. Everyone went about their business. After a few minutes I looked up and said "It's a mounting bracket for the front wheel fascia on a Chevy Trailblazer."
They were all O_O. Dad was like, "I guess the Droid does do everything!" Actually it wasn't the Droid's awesomeness that had solved the problem but Google's, but the Droid allowed me to access Google, so I suppose.
I still feel like crap. But here I am at work because I have no sick days left, I'm going to have to make up yesterday's sick day anyway and I can't make up two days before the end of the pay period. Blurgh
